Right at the campsite's doorstep lies the forĂȘt domaniale d'Écouves, the largest forest massif in Normandy. With its signposted paths, remarkable viewpoints, and protected wildlife, it offers an ideal landscape of discovery for nature lovers.

Whether you are an occasional walker or an experienced hiker, you will find trails suited to every level. Along the way, enjoy century-old beech trees, majestic oaks, scenic clearings, and rolling green hills.

Trail running

The forest massif features seven marked trail running routes of varied difficulty, ensuring everyone finds a route matching their fitness level. Combining woodland tracks, elevations, descents, and panoramic vistas, each run is an immersive challenge in one of Normandy’s finest natural spaces.

The neighboring pond

Just a few steps from our pitches and eco-cabins, our neighbor's private pond is directly accessible from the campsite. Walking around it, generously authorized by the owner, invites contemplation and quiet relaxation. A genuine haven of calm, it provides the perfect backdrop to observe birds and flora or simply enjoy the peace of Normandy's countryside.

Holiday camp hosting

Camping de la ForĂȘt welcomes holiday camps, youth organizations, and educational groups for mini-camps and outdoor school retreats in a secure, serene, and nature-focused setting.

Equestrian welcome

Camping de la ForĂȘt is delighted to welcome equestrian travelers and their horses to a restful, green setting.

In partnership with Normandie Cheval, we offer an adapted stopover for horse treks. Following a long ride, horses and riders enjoy dedicated facilities to rest and recharge before continuing along the bridle paths.

Set in the heart of Orne's equestrian trails, our site provides an ideal base for exploring Écouves forest on horseback.

We ensure a personalized, attentive welcome so your stay is comfortable and restorative for both you and your mount.

Cyclists welcome

Certified with the Accueil VĂ©lo quality label, Camping de la ForĂȘt caters specifically to cycle tourists. Situated directly along the famous VĂ©loscĂ©nie route connecting Paris to Mont-Saint-Michel, our site is an ideal stopover after a day in the saddle.

You will find warm hospitality, suitable pitch options, clean sanitary amenities, a shared living hall, and all the practical repair and washing services needed to set off with confidence the next morning.

Two pétanque courts

Fancy a friendly match with family, friends, or camping neighbors? Our two pétanque grounds welcome players in a warm, relaxed atmosphere right on site. Whether you are an experienced boules player or trying it for the first time, it is the perfect spot to mingle during long summer evenings. Bring your own boules or borrow a set at reception depending on availability, and let the games begin!

Barbecue areas (subject to conditions)

Nothing beats an outdoor barbecue to share good food with friends and family. Dedicated barbecue areas are available so you can enjoy your camping evenings in a natural, friendly setting. For everyone's safety and in accordance with regional forest regulations, barbecues are permitted outside periods of drought or elevated fire warning.

Outdoor sports area

Looking to stay active or simply play outside? Our outdoor games area welcomes all ages with a versatile net for badminton, volleyball, or family lawn games.

To ensure everyone can participate, volleyballs, shuttlecocks, and badminton rackets are available free of charge at reception upon request, subject to availability.

GR 36

From Normandy to the Pyrenees

The GR36 is a renowned long-distance footpath linking the English Channel all the way to the Pyrenees. Starting in Ouistreham in Calvados and concluding in Bourg-Madame in the PyrĂ©nĂ©es-Orientales over 1,916 km, it passes through historic towns such as Caen, AngoulĂȘme, and Carcassonne, showcasing breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage sites along the trail.

La VĂ©loscĂ©nie: a key stop at Camping de la ForĂȘt

Camping de la ForĂȘt is conveniently situated along stage 17 of the VĂ©loscĂ©nie, the famous 450-kilometer cycling itinerary connecting Paris to Mont-Saint-Michel. This signposted route winds through diverse landscapes, ancient woodlands, picturesque villages, and architectural heritage, providing an unforgettable bikepacking adventure.

As an Accueil Vélo partner, we offer tailored cyclist pitches, comfortable sanitaries, a communal room, and peace and quiet to recharge before hitting the road again.

GR 22

From the forecourt of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris to the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, pilgrims known as 'miquelots' have walked this historic itinerary through the centuries. Boasting rich regional heritage, the GR 22 trail passes through discreet countryside, ancient forests, quiet river valleys, and rolling bocage landscapes leading straight to the iconic bay.
